Oman Strengthens Education Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation System

The Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education held a media briefing highlighting its national responsibilities and strategic projects, while reviewing the latest developments in the education quality assurance system in the Sultanate of Oman, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Her Excellency the Chairperson of the Authority affirmed that the Authority continues to play its national role in leading the education quality assurance system in Oman through developing national quality assurance frameworks, evaluating school performance, ensuring the quality of higher education institutions and programmes, supervising the National Qualifications Framework, and developing national assessment systems, international studies, and professional licensing for educational bodies.

She noted that the Authority completed the evaluation of 100 public and private schools last year, published 58 reports on its official website, developed academic accreditation systems, and implemented institutional and programme accreditation processes.

She added that institutional accreditation results included 22 accredited higher education institutions, 3 institutions receiving conditional accreditation, and 2 institutions placed under observation, in addition to the accreditation of several academic programmes as part of programme accreditation activities.
