The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Nader Al-Jalal, held talks yesterday, Sunday, with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the State of Kuwait, Qudsi Rasheed, on opportunities to expand scholarship programmes for Kuwaiti students to British universities.
Dr Al-Jalal emphasised in a press statement the importance of strengthening cooperation with prestigious British universities, given their global academic reputation. He noted the Ministry’s commitment to diversifying scholarship destinations in line with labour market needs and national priorities.
He explained that the meeting addressed ways to develop academic partnerships and enhance cooperation in higher education and scientific research, in addition to supporting joint programmes and exchanging expertise between educational institutions in both countries.
For his part, the British Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the level of existing cooperation between the two countries, affirming the United Kingdom’s readiness to strengthen educational partnerships, support Kuwaiti students, and expand collaboration in scientific research and innovation.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr Bader Al-Busairi; the Assistant Undersecretary for Scholarships, Equivalency and Cultural Relations, Dr Faisal Al-Adwani; the British Deputy Ambassador, Stuart Summers; the Second Secretary at the Embassy, Nagina Akhtar; and the Director of the British Council, Tony Skinner.
