Planning to study in the United Kingdom is an exciting step, but it also requires careful attention to deadlines. Missing even one important UCAS date can delay your application or limit your choices. To help our students stay fully prepared, we have summarised all key dates for the 2026 admission cycle, along with what each one means for your application journey.
Why These Dates Matter
UCAS is the platform where students choose their courses, write their personal statement, upload their documents, and submit their university applications. Instead of applying to each university separately, you use one online system for up to five course choices.
UCAS operates on a strict timeline. Universities expect applicants to submit documents at specific points in the year to ensure equal consideration. Submitting early gives you more flexibility, better support, and a stronger chance of receiving offers on time. For international students especially, meeting these deadlines is essential for securing visas, accommodation, and funding.
Key UCAS Dates for 2026 Entry
29 April 2025 — Courses Available on UCAS Search
Universities publish the full list of courses for the 2026 cycle. Students can begin exploring degrees, entry requirements, placement options, and subject details. This is the best time to begin shortlisting choices.
13 May 2025 — UCAS Applications Open
You can officially start your UCAS application. This includes completing your personal details, choosing your courses, drafting your personal statement, and preparing your reference.
2 September 2025 — Applications Can Be Submitted
From this day, completed applications can be sent to UCAS. You do not need to wait until January; applying earlier is always beneficial, especially for international students.
15 October 2025 — Deadline for Oxford, Cambridge and Medicine-related Courses
By 18:00 UK time, applications must be submitted for:
- University of Oxford
- University of Cambridge
- Medicine
- Dentistry
- Veterinary medicine and veterinary science
These are the most competitive courses in the UK, and late applications are rarely considered.
14 January 2026 — Main UCAS Deadline for Equal Consideration
This is the most important date for most students. Applications submitted by 18:00 UK time receive equal consideration from all universities. Submitting after this date means universities may already be filling places.
26 February 2026 — UCAS Extra Opens
For students who used all five choices but did not receive any offers, or declined all offers, UCAS Extra provides a chance to apply to additional universities.
30 June 2026 — Final Date Before Clearing
Applications submitted by 18:00 UK time will still be sent to universities normally. Any application after this date is automatically entered into Clearing.
1 July 2026 — Last Day to Add an Extra Choice
Students using the Extra service must add their final Extra choice by this date.
2 July 2026 — Clearing Opens
Clearing begins for students who:
- Applied late
- Did not receive offers
- Declined their offers
- Didn’t meet their offer conditions
Many universities open vacancies during this period.
24 September 2026 — Final Application Deadline
This is the last possible date (by 18:00 UK time) to apply for 2026 entry. After this, the cycle closes completely.
