Ministry Highlights Training Development Plan

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Training and Development Centre, organised an introductory workshop on the Training Development Plan at the Ministry’s theatre. The workshop was attended by a large number of Ministry officials and employees and was held under the theme: “Discover Your Development Opportunities… and Be a Partner in Building Your Career Path.”

The workshop aimed to introduce the Training Development Plan and its key directions, while highlighting the available training pathways, programmes, and development opportunities. This enables employees to identify their development needs and align them with the requirements of their roles and professional goals.

The workshop also addressed the employee’s role in identifying development needs and the mechanisms for linking professional development with job requirements and career progression. This helps enhance employees’ awareness of the opportunities available to them and supports their active participation in shaping their professional development paths.

Ms Latifa Dasmal Al Kuwari, Head of the Administrative Training Section at the Training and Development Centre, emphasised that the Training Development Plan represents a shift in the concept of professional development, moving from a focus on merely attending training programmes towards building a more structured development path that is closely aligned with employees’ actual needs and job requirements.

She said: “We aspire for employees to view training as an investment in their professional journey, rather than simply a programme they attend. Genuine development begins when employees understand what they need to improve, select the appropriate opportunity, and then translate what they have learned into tangible performance and impact in the workplace.”

She added that the role of the Training and Development Centre is to enable employees to access a diverse range of valuable development opportunities and support them in selecting those that best match their needs and career paths. This contributes to building sustainable institutional capabilities and supports the Ministry’s priorities and future directions.

The workshop forms part of the Training and Development Centre’s efforts to promote a culture of continuous professional development and enable Ministry employees to benefit from the training opportunities available to them. These efforts aim to develop employees’ capabilities, enhance their performance, and contribute to achieving the Ministry’s objectives and strategic directions.

Following the workshop, the Training and Development Centre team held an open session with employees, during which they received and responded to enquiries related to training and development programmes.

The workshop concluded by emphasising that career development is a collaborative process that begins with employees’ awareness of their development needs and opportunities and is strengthened through the effective use of training and development programmes. This helps achieve greater alignment between employees’ professional aspirations, the requirements of their roles, and the Ministry’s objectives.
