The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Higher Education Affairs Sector, organised an orientation workshop on Thursday for top Qatari secondary school graduates at the Ministry’s headquarters. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the Government Scholarship Plan for the 2026–2027 academic year and highlight the study opportunities and benefits available through the programme, helping students make informed academic decisions that align with their interests and the needs of the national labour market.
The workshop reflects the Ministry’s commitment to engaging directly with high-achieving students and raising awareness of the opportunities offered through the government scholarship programme. It also supports the attraction of talented Qatari students to priority academic disciplines while preparing qualified national professionals who will contribute to sustainable development and the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
During the session, Dr Hareb Al Jabri, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, presented the Government Scholarship Plan for the 2026–2027 academic year. His presentation covered scholarship policies, application procedures, admission requirements, priority specialisations, approved universities, and the academic and financial benefits available to scholarship recipients. He also answered students’ questions and provided guidance to help them make well-informed academic choices.
The presentation also highlighted the importance of government scholarships in developing national talent and preparing future generations capable of keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements while meeting the evolving needs of the labour market. Dr Al Jabri emphasised that investing in outstanding students is an investment in the country’s future and that the government scholarship programme is one of Qatar’s key national initiatives for developing future leaders and highly qualified professionals.
The workshop witnessed active participation from students, who raised a variety of questions regarding academic specialisations, nomination procedures, and scholarship processes. Dr Al Jabri addressed these enquiries and provided detailed explanations to enhance students’ understanding of their academic and career options.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education will continue organising orientation workshops and awareness sessions on the Government Scholarship Programme as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting Qatari students and enabling them to benefit from high-quality educational opportunities that contribute to building a skilled national workforce.
