Sheikha Moza bint Nasser called for support and participation in the Safe Schools Declaration, as part of international efforts to protect education from attacks and ensure that children and students have access to safe and continuous education, especially in conflict-affected areas.
Sheikha Moza emphasized that education is the first line of defense, stressing that attacks on schools and the use of educational facilities in armed conflicts pose a serious threat to education and deprive children of their fundamental right to learn in a safe environment.
The call comes on the occasion of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack, which raises awareness of the risks faced by students, teachers, and schools in conflict zones around the world.
The campaign also highlighted the increase in attacks against schools, teachers, and students compared with previous years. This underlines the need for stronger policies and practical measures to protect educational institutions and prevent their use for military purposes.
The call concluded by emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to ensure that education continues despite conflicts and challenges, helping to build a more stable future for children and keeping schools safe places for learning rather than becoming part of conflict zones.
